Alton Miles for Meso passes 1-month mark

Posted on Wed Aug 25, 2010 1:05pm

The Alton Miles for Meso 5K Race & Fun Walk is only a month away and already we have dozens of people signing up to help us celebrate Mesothelioma Awareness Day and spread the word about mesothelioma and how it’s a fatal, man-made epidemic that shouldn’t exist. News is spreading fast, so we encourage everyone to register early. If you do register before Sept. 16, the cost is only $15. After that, it’s $20 and $25 on race day.

The excitement around here is spreading as we pass the one-month mark. We’ve checked our ‘To Do’ lists twice and are hard at work to ensure this year’s race day is even better than last year’s. For those of you who have been asking, this year’s Miles for Meso T-shirts have been ordered. They’re blue with long-sleeves and the logo is on the front. We decided to go with long-sleeves this year since September mornings can be quite chilly. We’re expecting to get them in the mail any day now.

This will be just in time, as we’ll begin assembling the day’s race bags in the upcoming weeks. The bags – also blue – will include the T-shirt, a Miles for Meso bracelet, and several goodies from area businesses and our sponsors. If you’re a business and would be interested in becoming a Miles for Meso sponsor or want to donate an item for our race bags, let us know at info@milesformesothelioma.org or 877-309-MESO.

Be sure to check back regularly to get more updates about race details as September draws closer. We’ll be providing regular updates about all three Miles for Meso races taking place across the country in celebration Mesothelioma Awareness Day.

As always, thank you to the mesothelioma community, to the race groups who donate their time, to race-day volunteers and participants, and to our sponsors for your continued support. We couldn’t do it without you. Your support now will help doctors someday develop a future cure for all mesothelioma patients everywhere.
