The race, organized by the Boca Raton Road Runners Miles for Meso club, kicks off Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at Spanish River Park. Be one of the first 250 people registered to receive a max high-tech T-shirt. The walk begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race directly following. Prizes will be awarded for the 8K course in the categories of male, female, open, master and grand master.

Miles for Meso, nationally sponsored by the Simmons law firm, is a professional race and fun run/walk to raise awareness and research funds for mesothelioma, a rare cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Other Miles for Meso races have taken place in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana and Virginia.

Every year 3,000 new Americans are diagnosed with mesothelioma, which has no cure. Miles for Meso is a nationwide effort by runners, survivors, patients, their families, advocates and medical researchers to start a conversation about mesothelioma and the need for research. By working together, a cure will be found.

The Third Annual Wishing Well Miles for Meso 8K Run & 4K Cancer Tribute walk will benefit the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, a non-profit organization that has donated more than $6.4 million to peer-reviewed research for mesothelioma since 2000.
