Posted on Tue May 03, 2011 12:34pm

The check has been signed and sent. We are excited to announce that the 2011 South Florida Miles for Meso race raised a grand total of $33,000 for mesothelioma research.

The money, a combination of registration fees, sponsorships, private donations and T-shirt sales, was donated to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.

Thank you to the more than 300 people who registered and came out on race day to help raise awareness for this deadly disease. We can’t thank you enough for your support! You can see everyone who ran miles for meso by visiting the 2011 South Florida Miles for Meso race results on our Race Results Page.

Larry Davis, race organizer and meso survivor, worked tirelessly to put on not only a great event, but one that drew professional runners from around the state. He even made a Miami TV appearance where he told his survivor story and talked about Miles for Meso.

The total miles logged for mesothelioma was more than 1,000 bringing Miles for Meso’s total impact to 6,504 miles logged for meso in just two and half years. That’s an impact we can get excited about! Click here to learn more about how you can make an impact and host your own Miles for Meso race.

The good news doesn’t stop there. An additional $2,000 was raised through the South Florida Miles for Meso website, which went directly to MARF. This means that cumulatively the South Florida Miles for Meso race has raised $50,000 for mesothelioma research.
