On Independence Day, 200 walkers and runners will fight back against mesothelioma with the Washington Memorial Miles for Meso 5K Run/Walk in Federal Way, Washington.
Race Co-organizer Diana Stewart said the number of registrations from the past ten days have far exceeded her expectations. Because of the registrations and generous donations from sponsors, the race is close to reaching its $10,000 goal.
“I am very grateful for the outpouring of support our Miles for Meso race has gotten from the Federal Way community,” she said. “Mesothelioma is a horrible cancer and thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and volunteers, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of mesothelioma patients here in Washington and around the country.”
All proceeds will benefit the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, a national non-profit organization that provides patient support to mesothelioma victims, advocates for federal funding of the disease, and supports mesothelioma researchers through its peer-reviewed grant program.
Even if you can’t attend the race, consider making a donation to help with mesothelioma research, by visiting the Miles for Meso WA Memorial 5K Run/Walk fundraising page on the Meso Foundation’s web site.
Race day registration is available before the race, which starts at 8:30 a.m. PST.Click here to register online.
