 Alton Miles for Meso Registration is Now Open

 Miles for Meso is excited to announce that registration is now open for is Alton, Illinois race. The 8th Annual Miles for Meso 5K Race & 3K Fun Run/Walk race, presented by Simmons Hanly Conroy and organized by Metro Tri Club, returns to Alton on Sept. 24, 2016. The race coincides with National Mesothelioma Awareness Day on September 26.

This year’s race activities will begin with on-site registration at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Welcome Ceremony at 8:30 a.m. and the race at 9:00 a.m. The race will take place at the national headquarters of Simmons Hanly Conroy, 1 Court Street.

Registration for those interested costs $25 through August 31, $30 through September 19 and $35 through race day. Online registration ends September 22.

Everyone who registers for the race will receive a long sleeve, moisture-wicking t-shirt.

Miles for Meso also offers a virtual race option, allowing anyone in the country to participate by purchasing T-shirts and sharing photos of themselves wearing the shirts via social media on race day. Registration for the virtual race will remain open through September 2. Virtual race registration costs $30 and includes a T-shirt and shipping fees. Participants of the virtual race must register by Sept. 2 to guarantee receiving their shirt in time to wear it on Race Day. They can then get involved with the Alton race day activities by taking a picture of their team wearing the shirts and sharing it on social media with the hashtag #milesformeso. Those photos will then display on the jumbotron at the Alton race.

Case prizes will be awarded to the overall top five men and women competing in the 5K race. Prizes are:

·         1st Place: $500

·         2nd Place: $250

·         3rd Place: $200

·         4th Place: $100

·         5th Place: $50

The top three finishers in each age group will be awarded medals, and children crossing the finish line will receive participation ribbons.
