New Paltz Miles for Meso 5K Race/Walk - New York

The New Paltz Miles for Meso race is a fundraising race, hosted by the Community Partnership for a Safer New Paltz, that will take place Saturday, Sept. 24 in New Paltz, New York. This exciting event is sure to please runners and walkers alike as the course follows the New Paltz section of the scenic Wallkill Valley Rail Trail through the beautiful wooded hills of New York State. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and their efforts to support clinical trial research for mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is a rare, agressive cancer that is caused by asbestos exposure. People throughout the New Paltz community have been exposed - from 9/11 workers, to our veterans, our plumbers, construction workers, firefighters and IBM works to name a few. There is only ONE FDA approved medication for the treatment of mesothelioma. More research is needed to provide additional options. Cutting edge research is on the verge of a breakthrough that could provide additional treatments. Funding is needed to finish phase III clinical trials and to get these treatments FDA approved, which would make them available to all those affected by this deadly disease.
