Meso Survivor Hosts Miles for Meso in Indiana
Indiana resident Janelle Bedel has been living with mesothelioma for the past three years. On Sept. 25, 2010, she ran across the finish line of the Miles for Meso 5K Race & Fun Walk she organized at the Rush County fairgrounds in Rushville, Indiana.
Bedel decided to organize her own Miles for Meso race in June 2010 while attending the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation’s annual mesothelioma symposium.
She told her local newspaper she was inspired to fundraise for mesothelioma after meeting a woman there who raised $100,000 for the Meso Foundation.
“She really motivated me to do it myself,” Janelle told the reporter. She said she hopes her work will someday help doctors find a cure.
Between registration fees, sponsorships, & T-shirt sales, the Rushville Miles for Meso race raised $2,500 for mesothelioma research. The money benefited the Meso Foundation.
