About the Race

The Alton race is considered the flagship event for Miles for Meso. Since the Illinois river town hosted the first Miles for Meso race in 2009, the Alton race has raised nearly $400,000 for mesothelioma research.

In an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy, the 2021 Alton Miles for Meso race was organized as a virtual 5K run and 3K walk. This allowed anyone anywhere to register and participate. Because of the increasing numbers of the variant COVID strains and our wish to keep everyone safe, the Alton race for 2021 was only offered as a virtual option.

The 2022 race will return on Sept. 24, 2022 as both an in person and virtual event.
